Teeth in a Day Alternatives

When you lose one or more teeth you will want to replace them quickly and efficiently. Dental implants often provide a terrific solution. Your dentist may offer same-day dental implants using innovative techniques to place and, almost immediately, position the implants. This treatment relies on the implants being surgically placed so that they cannot move throughout the healing process. Although the implants are completed with new restorations soon after surgery, they still must integrate with the jawbone; even the slightest movement could interfere with this process.

Alternative Treatments to Teeth in a Day

Living without teeth for an extended period of time is an issue. Here are some options to regain your normal functionality and a healthy smile.
* Same-day teeth- Same-day teeth is a technique where your tooth is removed, and a dental implant is placed in the socket immediately.

This is an immediate placement.

This implant gains stability through a threading mechanism on the outside of the implant, which ensures primary stability while secondary stability is gained from integration. Since there is primary stability, it is possible to place a restoration.

* Mini implants- Mini implants are much smaller than regular implants. This makes them quicker, easier, and often cheaper. They can be more comfortable than regular implants, but because they are smaller, it is not possible to place restorations in the same way. You might need more mini implants placed or have to have fewer teeth restored if mini implants are chosen.

* Conventional Dental Bridge- A conventional dental bridge replaces a missing tooth or teeth by using healthy teeth on each side of the gap. These abutment teeth are fitted with crowns to hold the replacement tooth in place. Dental bridges are more destructive than dental implants as the teeth on both sides of the gap need to be reduced, which is why your dentist will prefer to use implants.

* Adhesive dental bridges- An adhesive dental bridge has the restoration supported by wings on both sides which are bonded onto the tongue side of the natural teeth on both sides. This has the benefit of maintaining the natural teeth on both sides of the gap without reducing them.

* Partial dentures- Partial dentures can often be the cheapest solution to replacing missing teeth. The problem is that they are removable, and you may not like the idea of taking teeth out at night. Partial dentures need to be well maintained, and your gums will move over time meaning the dentures can become loose. You need to continue to go to the dentist to monitor your partial dentures.

* Do nothing at all – An alternative to dental implants is to do nothing at all and in some situations, this is a valid alternative. You may not want to have unnecessary treatment and you might find you can live just fine by not replacing the missing tooth at all. However, over time the neighboring teeth will shift into the gap. This means compromising your overall bite, which will get worse in time. This is the main reason that dental implants are usually selected as the treatment of choice if possible.
