Full Mouth Reconstruction Process

The full mouth reconstruction process will begin with an initial consultation, during which Dr. Forbes will evaluate and scan your mouth to determine what procedures may be available and are best suited for your specific needs and personal treatment goals. It will also be important to identify the underlying reason(s) full mouth reconstruction is necessary and address those issues.

One unique benefit that we provide our clients is state-of-the-art Digital Smile Design technology. With this technology, a dentist like Dr. Forbes becomes an architect of the smile, and a new level of precision is now able to be achieved. Using this Dental Smile Design technology, Dr Forbes can offer you an exact preview of your perfect smile before doing any actual dental work. And while traditional cosmetic dentistry has been known to produce artificial-looking results, our Digital Smile Design creates a seamlessly natural look.

If it is determined that dental implants are necessary as part of your full mouth reconstruction treatment plan, Dr. Forbes will use ultramodern imaging to determine the strongest, densest places in your jawbone to place the titanium posts. We will also use our Digital Smile Design technology to design a smile that looks seamless, natural from every angle, and accounts for what you might look like as you laugh, eat, talk, and live life.

Although every patient will have a slightly different treatment plan depending on their unique needs, it is important to understand that full mouth reconstruction will take multiple appointments spread out over an extended period of time before you have achieved the smile you desire.

Aftercare Instructions

Throughout the process of undergoing full mouth reconstruction, you will have several recovery periods following each procedure. To ensure that you experience a fast recovery and avoid complications, it is important to closely follow all aftercare instructions. If prescription pain pills or antibiotics are prescribed, be se sure to take them as directed until the prescription runs out.

Once you have completed the healing process, you will not have to make any additional modifications to your oral hygiene self-care, although it may be possible that the reason full mouth reconstruction was necessary in the first place is that you have not been taking proper care of your oral health. Make a habit of brushing and flossing your teeth twice daily and follow a balanced diet that is not overloaded with foods that are sugary or acidic. Additional steps you can take include drinking more water, especially after every meal and using a mouthwash and/or fluoride toothpaste.

Finally, the most important step you can take to preserve your oral health and avoid the need for these types of procedures is to schedule a regular examination with us at least twice a year, or with greater regularity if you are at an increased risk of developing oral health issues. These visits ensure that Dr. Forbes can evaluate your oral health and identify issues before they develop into something worse. They also allow us to perform one of our three types of dental exams: a limited exam (for specific concerns), comprehensive exam (thorough examination of your overall oral health followed by treatment recommendations), or our signature exam, which includes the comprehensive exam as well as a full head and neck exam and ideas for a Digital Smile Design.

Cost of Full Mouth Reconstruction

Several factors will determine the total cost of full mouth reconstruction, such as the number and complexity of procedures required to restore your full mouth, how many appointments are needed, what type of sedation is necessary, and whether the procedures are covered (and if so, how much) by your dental insurance plan. Prior to scheduling any procedure, we will discuss the anticipated costs, verify your benefits (if applicable) to determine out-of-pocket costs, and answer any questions you may have about billing.

If you are not covered under a dental insurance plan, or if you are simply interested in saving money, consider joining the Capital Dental Design Membership Plan. Although we make every effort to keep our services affordable for all patients, joining our membership plan allows us to save you even more money by covering the cost of preventive care such as cleanings, exams, and routine x-rays. We also offer discounts of 10-15% on other dental services offered at our clinic. To learn more about our membership plan, payment options, or anticipated costs, contact our office today!
