The process begins when a 3D CT scan is taken of your jawbone. This CT scan allows for the generation and creation of a three-dimensional model of the jawbone that will be used with virtual reality software to plan the implant placement without your presence. The results are perfectly accurate implant placement and less time in the dental chair for you. This CT scan will also determine if any bone grafting is necessary for your implant placement.
Depending on your specific case, on the same day all the natural teeth are removed, four or five implants are placed in the upper or lower arch by your dentist, and then they will custom fit and deliver the new teeth on these new implants. The fabrication of your temporary prosthesis teeth is completed prior to your surgery. This procedure can also be performed if your teeth have been missing for some time, as long as there is adequate jawbone remaining.
Once your implants have had time to heal and fuse to the jawbone, you will visit your dental office so they can place abutments, or the extension attachment pieces, and capture impressions that will be used to custom design your final restoration or adjust your temporary denture to be secured to the implant posts.
