Do you not love the shape of your smile? Are some teeth too long or pointy? Are your canines too noticeable? Any unsightly chips?
Here at Capital Dental Design in Richmond, we can help you reshape your teeth with one of two procedures. The first is a bonding process used for very minor repairs. The second is through the use of porcelain veneers.
How does dental bonding work?
We can use composite resin to address small problems. Dr. Forbes will remove a small amount of tooth enamel from your teeth. From there, we can use a little bit of composite resin to correct minor blemishes. (It’s similar to getting a white filling, except with bonding we’re correcting a cosmetic issue, rather than filling a cavity.)
Dental bonding is only suitable for very small changes. If you have more than one tooth that’s bothering you, veneers are probably the better choice.
How do porcelain veneers work?
First we use digital smile design to customize and order veneers that look exactly as you want . After that, we’ll trim and place the veneer. To do that, Dr. Forbes removes a little enamel from the surface of each tooth. That will allow us to permanently bond the veneers to your teeth. The result is a natural, yet flawless smile.
What else should I know about reshaping teeth?
Sometimes we will reshape teeth to help place a bridge or a crown. That will be done to support your prosthetic.
Reshaping teeth does not hurt. We’ll work hard to keep you comfortable throughout your procedure. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
